ORU Alumni Association Board Sets New Precedent

The current Oral Roberts University Alumni Association Board of Directors is on track to set a record for individual financial support of ORU this year.

Johnie Hampton, chair of the Alumni Board's Development Committee, was pleased to announce 100% participation for 2014 through both gifts and pledges. In all, the board has committed to give $60,150 (an average of $2,406 from each of the 25 board members) this year.

"I heartily congratulate the Alumni Association Board of Directors, and I thank each of them as individuals for this truly historic achievement," said Jesse Pisors, senior director for Development and Alumni Relations. "They are setting a clear example of monetary support for their alma mater for our 39,000 alumni across the world. This is leadership. This is serving."

Hampton added, "Chancellor Roberts' mandate to 'go into every person's world' is not a cheap one. It requires everything we have: our prayer, our time, and our finances. As the Alumni Board, we feel the weight of that challenge and want to lead all alumni in doing our part to ensure this mandate is available for future graduates of ORU. For this reason, all 25 members of this board have made personal financial commitments to ORU for 2014. We pray our humble leadership will inspire our fellow alumni to do the same. This is our honor!"

Board Chair Chris Busch concluded, "Alumni reconnection with and support for ORU continues to grow. People tend to vote with their attention, and also with their resources. The generous support of the Alumni Board shows me that there is growing confidence in the direction of our alma mater and in its governance, accountability, and leadership."
