Dr. George Gillen
The self-proclaimed "Czar" of ORU*, Dr. George Gillen, is a pillar of the ORU community and in particular, of the College of Business. Since the day he arrived at ORU in 1965, he has made it his business to make an immeasurable investment in the university and his students. Known for his wit and wisdom, Dr. Gillen and his teachings, mentorship, and overall friendship continued to change faculty and students' lives for 51 years. And at the end of the spring 2016 semester, he retired from classroom teaching--but not from advising, counseling, and serving as a guest speaker from time to time.
A key component of ORU's 50th Anniversary Campaign is the Global Learning Center (scheduled to open in 2016). Within the GLC is the Virtual/Augmented Reality Room. We want to honor Dr. Gillen for all he has meant to ORU by naming this room for him. All those who know, love, and appreciate Dr. Gillen are invited to participate in our drive to raise $500,000 for this purpose.
The Virtual/augmented Reality Room will offer these advantages:
- A fully immersive multidimensional learning experience
- Integration of augmented reality with the use of computerized glasses, interactive displays, and other interactive tools
- Students improve their engagement and attention by 400%, and their test scores by 30%
You can help make the Dr. George Gillen Virtual/Augmented Reality Room a reality. Click here to make a gift; under "Designation," select "Gillen Room." Dr. Gillen will receive a certificate that lists the names of all those who contribute to this project.

*Why "Czar"? Because, Dr. Gillen says, "I've always wanted to be the economic Czar of the world in terms of policy."
