What do you love about ORU?
ORU is an exciting place to be! I first came to ORU in 1999 and worked in the Registrar’s office. It was there that the vision of ORU was first implanted in my heart through my interaction with students, faculty, and staff. I have worked in several areas of the university over the years and even left ORU for a time to pursue other career avenues. When I returned to ORU as the Graduate Theology Representative in the Fall of 2011, I felt like I was coming home. ORU has a unique and special atmosphere. People come to study at ORU from all over the country and all over the world. Consequently, there are ample opportunities to meet and develop lasting relationships with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. It is great to be in a place where people actively pursue academics, but at the same time pursue Jesus. Being at ORU has been a life changing experience; there truly is no other place like it.
What makes the Graduate School of Theology unique from programs at other Universities?
One of the biggest assets the Graduate School of Theology has is its stellar faculty. Not only are the Graduate School of Theology’s professors some of the most highly educated scholars in their fields, they pursue excellence in their spiritual lives as well. These godly men and women take the time to know each student and to pray for them. The faculty truly cares for their students and is passionate about helping students achieve the call that God has placed on their lives.
What do you enjoy about living in Tulsa?
Tulsa has a great hometown feel. The residents are typically friendly. There are many tasty dining options in the Brookside and Cherry Street areas as well as many great hidden gems all over the city. The Riverparks trail system provides opportunities for walking, running, biking, and picnicking. The city also offers many fantastic cultural activities—nationally recognized art museums, the Tulsa Ballet Theatre, and great live music venues and theatrical performances through the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. There are many area churches to choose from; everyone can find their place in Tulsa.
