Professional Development Tracks

Non-degree Professional Development Tracks

The ORU Graduate School of Education offers three professional development tracks for the professional that either does not want or need a full master degree but does need extra training and professional development. The credit hours from these professional development tracks can be transferred into a full master level degree.

  • Special Education:
    The ORU Graduate School of Education has created the 18 credit hour, Special Education Professional Development Program. This program consists of six graduate level courses. The goal of this track is to increase the number of special education certified teachers through recruiting and retraining teachers who currently hold certification in other subject areas. The credit hours from this track can be transferred into a full master level degree.

  • Alternative Certification:
    The ORU Graduate School of Education has created the 18 credit hour professional development track to assist those candidates who have or are pursuing alternative certification. The goal of this track is to provide the candidate with the essentials of professional teaching. The credit hours from this track can be transferred into a full masters degree.

  • Teaching English as a Second Language
    The ORU Graduate School of Education has created the 11 credit hour professional development track to assist those candidates who currently hold certification in other subject areas and wish to add an English as a Second Language endorsement. The credit hours from this track can be transferred into a full master level degree.
