Working Adults

Working and going to school can be a challenge, but at Oral Roberts University, we cater to working adults. ORU has nearly 50 years of experience delivering top tier academic programs; and now, we offer four fully accredited online degrees as well as a degree completion program offered on-ground and online. These programs have been especially designed to give adult learners the ability to earn a whole-person degree at ORU and still keep their livelihood.

Why Oral Roberts University:

Christian Mission Fit: Our distance learning programs integrate a Christian worldview into the curricula as a central component of the combination of faith and learning. Our professors will pray for you on a regular basis and our Chapel services are available regularly by TV or Internet. Expect to grow spiritually as a distance learning student!

Quality: ORU is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and many programs hold additional accreditation. We only hire fully credentialed professors, and more than half hold terminal degrees in their fields. The following undergraduate Bachelor of Science majors are available through our distance learning program: Business Administration, Church Ministries, Christian Caregiving and Leadership Studies.

Affordability: Our distance learning programs cost $349 per credit hour, which about half the cost of traditional, on-ground education. This competitive pricing allows you to finish your degree in a reasonable amount of time, and some companies even offer tuition assistance for employees earning degrees. Our financial aid counselors are ready to assist you with information about grants, loans, payment options and employer tuition reimbursement.

Transfer Credit: We are able to accept all the credits earned from other accredited colleges and universities to complete your degree at ORU.

Test-Out and Prior Learning Credit: The Test-Out and Prior Learning Assessment methods of awarding up to 30 hours of credit toward ORU degrees in ways other than completing ORU courses are available to our adult learners. Testing-out involves achieving an acceptable score on a prescribed final-exam-type test-out exam for a course; and prior learning assessment involves creating a portfolio that specifies, demonstrates, illustrates, and/or documents a level of proficiency in a given course.

Convenient and Supportive Culture: We at ORU believe that our students are customers. We care about you and want you to succeed. For your convenience, we provide 6 admissions start dates every year and our 8 week schedule is easy to follow. Our professors understand that adult learners have unique needs centered on work, school, family and church activities. Our professors prepare their assignments with these needs in mind and give timely responses to clearly communicate back to you, the customers.

Small Classes: Our online classes are capped at 25 students containing smaller discussion groups of no more than 13 students.
