Engineering and Physics

ORU's Engineering and Physics program offers a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (with emphases in mechanical, electrical, and computer areas), and degrees in biomedical engineering, engineering physics and science education. Each program is delivered in a Christian environment by faculty and staff who form close mentoring relationships with students. We are dedicated to producing the highest caliber graduates who can solve difficult technical problems and contribute as Christians to the healing of our world.

Some of the outstanding features of this program:

  • A 10 to 1 student/faculty ratio assures you receive individual attention from professors that enhances learning.

  • Students engage in research projects with professors. For example, Dr. Ma worked with students to build a sensor to measure the distance between two cars and the relative speed. In an emergency, the car signals through wireless communication to warn the other driver of danger.

  • Seven teams of ORU freshman engineering and physics students recently participated in the Tulsa State Fair Robotics Competition.

  • The members of ASME, the student club for mechanical engineering students, attend conferences where students make valuable contacts in the industry.

  • ORU's Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the campus organization that has promoted the field of engineering since its inception in 2004.

  • Groups of our engineering students have traveled internationally to help poor villages devise water projects and solve engineering problems vexing the communities.
