The ORU School of Science and Engineering encompasses four departments including Behavioral Science; Biology and Chemistry; Engineering, Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics; and Health Physical Education and Recreation.  Through its own unique approach, each department gives you the opportunity to discover God's natural world and thereby enlarge your Christian worldview.  Rarely will you find such an opportunity to receive a Christ-centered education in areas often considered difficult degree areas while surrounded by such cooperative, caring and intellectually inquisitive students and faculty.

Interesting facts about the School of Science and Engineering include:

  • We have an 89.5 percent acceptance rate into medical schools. Many ORU graduates have received full-rides to continue their medical school education.
  • You'll be taught by professors who are exceptional scholars and dedicated classroom teachers. All are recognized for academic excellence and have experience working in the field. Many have active research projects underway.
  • You'll enjoy small classes that allow you to get to know your professors well and benefit from one-on-one attention. The average student to professor ratio in our classes is 13:1.
  • Our faculty research includes studies in aquatic biology, marine biology, human anatomy and physiology, neuroscience, environmental stewardship, entomology, bioethics, immunology, microbiology, genetics, histology and molecular biology.
  • You may have the opportunity to participate in research with a faculty member and share your insights when it is presented in the classroom.

ORU to Host 2010 Mechanical Engineering Conference

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) student chapter from the Oral Roberts University Engineering Department will host the 2010 ASME Student Professional Development Conference (SPDC) and the Early Career Technical Conference (ECTC) on the ORU campus Friday, March 26 and Saturday, March 27. The SPDC is an annual gathering of students from Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Mexico. At this year's event, over 90 colleges and universities will be represented. The students attend the SPDC to compete in a series of contests and competitions that are designed to expose the students to the engineering profession by letting them experience some of the tasks performed by engineers every day.

ORU Professor recognized for DaVinci Fellows Award

Dr. Andrew Lang, Professor, School of Science and Engineering, was honored the prestigious Davinci Fellows Award. The DaVinci Institute is an institute with unique private partnerships of leaders in higher education. Only 5 faculty members are honored from the Davinci Institute for their creativity among Oklahoma's higher education faculty.
