Sponsored Programs

Funds Given in Support of Specific Purposes on Campus

Sponsored programs is dedicated to helping every department in the university locate and acquire the external funds it needs to meet the needs of students and the campus at large. We also stay abreast of opportunities to participate in government, foundation and corporate grants targeting a specific issue or activity that will bring additional funds and/or learning opportunities to our students.

Sponsored programs staff regularly meets with university deans to determine their needs and discuss avenues we will explore to meet them. For example, if the College of Science and Engineering wants to put on a conference or the theatre department wants to stage a play, the departments can request our assistance.

In the past two years, Sponsored Programs has tripled the grants submitted. In addition, we've established procedures for fully tracking and accounting for all monies received.

Among the many efforts sponsored through grants acquired through Sponsored Programs are:

  • Supporting ORU chemistry students' efforts to go to at-risk schools and work
    with students on chemistry experiments

  • Providing a disability pool lift, Braille books and a visualizer (large screen)
    for ORU classrooms

  • Boosting the nursing program through a cancer treatment grant

  • Supporting students' travel to international missions
