Instructor of Management
A decade after Jim Toft completed two graduate degrees at ORU and returned to Norway, he came back to the ORU College of Business to teach. During his time away, he was provided amazing opportunities to do business globally, particularly in Europe and the Middle East.
Since Toft has held upper management and business positions in renowned global companies, he has a clear understanding of what students can expect as they step into the professional arena. Toft has a global perspective and emphasizes what is shown to work and the established best practices within strategy, management, international business and beyond.
He has a passion to convey “the big picture,” and attempts to shape students’ expectations regarding the skills, capabilities, etiquette and devotion that is needed to succeed in professional settings. Lofty, unproven theories and unpractical knowledge is not his thing. Toft’s desire is to help students learn the ‘101s’ in depth, to discover and tap into their potential, and help prepare them for success - not only as business persons but as change-makers with a higher purpose.
In addition to teaching at ORU, Toft is also working on his Ph.D. in Business with an emphasis on management. He holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship and an M.A. in Christian Counseling from ORU. Toft also earned a B.A. in Cultural- and Social Sciences at the University of Bergen, Norway. He is married to his high school sweetheart and together they have two grown sons.
