Dafne Basave-Mead

Assistant Professor in Theatre

Born and raised in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, Dafne moved with her family to Houston, Texas in 2002. In 2003 she discovered her passion for arts and theatre and in 2007 graduated from ORU with Drama/TV/Film Performance as her major.

Returning to Houston after graduation, she worked at the Houston Grand Opera (HGO) in the Costume Department. In 2009, she pursued her studies in costumes and graduated in 2011 from the University of Houston with an MFA in Costume Technology. Basave continued working at HGO, where she was costume assistant for more than 15 operas; including Madame Butterfly (2010), La Traviata (2012) and the well-known La Boheme (2012).

In August of 2012, she returned to Tulsa to be part of the faculty of the ORU theatre department. Each year, Dafne designs and coordinates all the costumes for four main stage theatre productions and two dance concerts. She also teaches costume and makeup design and theatre history courses and has professionally designed costumes for several shows with Playhouse Theatre in Tulsa.

Dafne received her B.S. in Drama/TV/Film Performance from Oral Roberts University and her M.F.A. in Costume Design & Technology from the University of Houston.
