Mathematics Pre-Med / Pre-Health

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The mathematics with pre-medicine concentration and the mathematics with pre-health concentration majors are similar to a traditional mathematics major but place more emphasis on pre-health professional training for those students who would like to pursue a mathematics major but a health professional career.

The mathematics with pre-medicine / pre-health concentration majors are designed to provide:

Training in both mathematics and pre-health content
The background necessary for graduate work in mathematics, any health professional school, or a related discipline

OUTCOMES

With a degree in mathematics with a pre-medicine / pre-health concentration, you will appreciate and understand how the Universe (all of creation) works. You will know how the fundamental forces of nature influence the world around us including being able to understand the underlying mathematical models for these forces. You will also be able to address the philosophical, naturalistic, and teleological implications of mathematics within a Christian world-view.

STUDENT SOCIETIES, CLUBS AND EXTRACURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES

Mathematics with a pre-medicine / pre-health concentration are housed in the computing and mathematics department where several faculty members have active undergraduate research programs in which students are encouraged to participate. Professional and honor societies that students and faculty members are active in include:

International Association of Mathematical Physics
American Chemical Society
American Mathematical Society
Association for Computing Machinery
Association of Women Mathematicians
Kappa Mu Epsilon
Mathematical Association of America
National Council of Teachers of Mathematics
