Bachelor of Science Degree
The mathematics major aims to develop patience along with tools of abstract reasoning - to think and, hence, to solve problems in the world of social sciences and the world of physical sciences. The mathematics major develops the knowledge and skills to address applied mathematical problems in business, engineering, science and other fields as well as pursue advanced studies in the area of pure mathematics.
The mission of the mathematics education major is to equip teachers for assignments in grades 6 through 12 in private and public schools classroom settings through a diverse teacher preparation program. The three segments - general education, the subject area, and the professional education - are integrated to produce graduates with a comprehensive academic preparation who are inculcated with a Christian worldview.
With a degree in mathematics education opportunities exist for you to help transform lives. The National Center for Educational Statistics states that America's schools will need at least two million additional teachers in the next decade. You are needed now, more than ever. The world is waiting for educators who have developed a Christian worldview and who will have an impact in education. As an educator, you truly do touch the future.
