Old Testament Concentration

Bachelor of Arts Degree

Program Overview

The greatest asset for effective integration of truth is a solid knowledge of the Bible. The biblical literature courses are designed to give students an understanding and appreciation of the Word of God and its application. The biblical literature major exposes students to a broad spectrum of hermeneutical and exegetical perspectives, tools and methods so they may interpret the Bible responsibly and perceptively within a theological-historical framework. Students who choose the biblical literature area choose one of three majors: English Bible, Old Testament or New Testament.

The Old Testament concentration leads the student in an in-depth examination of the contents of the Old Testament and requires instruction in the Hebrew language and exegesis of the Hebrew text. Theological-historical courses are required in the cognate to enable students to interpret the Bible within a sound theological-historical framework.

Old Testament Course Offerings

"I chose the Old Testament major because one can never truly understand the New Testament without first understanding the Old Testament. Learning about Jesus Christ through the lens of the Old Testament is challenging and yet rewarding.

"What I like most about this degree is to be able to finally read the text in its original language. Going through the process of being able to read and comprehend the Old Testament in Hebrew is an amazing experience, and one that I will never forget."
