Church Ministry & Leadership Major

Bachelor of Arts Degree

Program Overview

The College of Theology facilitates Spirit-led growth and discipleship in students and equips them as ministers and leaders in the Body of Christ. Foundational to this purpose, students are equipped with a solid knowledge of the Bible, a sound understanding of theology and an effective grasp of ministry enabling them, through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, to proclaim the healing Gospel of Jesus Christ. The undergraduate Theology Department offers majors in the following areas: biblical literature, church ministry and leadership and theological-historical studies.

Within the church ministry and leadership area, students select one of the following two majors: ministry and leadership or pastoral Christian ministries. The focus of the ministry and leadership major is to equip leaders to fill the offices of teacher, administrator and evangelist in the church through three concentrations of study: Educational Ministries concentration, church administration concentration and evangelism and outreach concentration.

In each area of concentration a cognate of hermeneutics, signs and wonders, research seminar, systematic theology and an Old and New Testament elective is required.

Ministry and Leadership Major Concentrations

"Attending classes at ORU has sharpened my direction and purpose for God's divine calling on my life. From childhood, I knew I had an abundance of compassion for people and a zeal to help them understand the Word of God to the degree of "doing it." Now to the credit of the Holy Spirit and ORU, I know why I was chosen and how to carry out God's plan for my life."
