Carol Blan

Assistant Professor, College of Theology and Ministry

Carol BlanWith a toy poodle and an Amazon parrot, there's never a dull moment at Carol Blan's house. But then, Carol is used to excitement. After all, she helped raise her cousin's twins from age 14 months through high school graduation. Now they are 27 and her undisputed pride and joy.

Carol was born in Lubbock, Texas, and moved to Tulsa at age 10. She attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, earning a B.A. Then, she came to Tulsa University to receive a B.S.N. For 12 years she worked as a nurse in the Tulsa school system, primarily in North Tulsa. All during this time, she was heavily involved in children's ministry, after school Bible studies, leadership training and vacation Bible school in the community.

Missionary friends invited Carol to Cameroon, West Africa, to provide leadership training in children's ministry and she stayed there for two years helping train the local teachers. She loved this work and prayed that God would open a way for her to stay on the mission field, but it was not to be. God had another plan for Carol.

When she came home to Tulsa, she enrolled in a masters program at ORU and soon became the secretary for undergraduate theology under Dr. Ken Mayton. From there she taught first undergraduate Christian education and then graduate theology while directing the M.Div. modular program. Following a three-year assignment on the pastoral staff of a church in Palm Springs, she came back to ORU in 2001 as an assistant professor for Christian Education.

"I believe so strongly in what we are doing at ORU, sending students out into the world to share the gospel of Christ. We are making a difference through our students," Carol commented.
