Biblical Literature Major

Bachelor of Arts Degree

Program Overview

The greatest asset for effective integration of truth is a solid knowledge of the Bible. The Biblical Literature courses are designed to give students an understanding and appreciation of the Word of God and its application. The Biblical Literature major exposes students to a broad spectrum of hermeneutical and exegetical perspectives, tools and methods so they may interpret the Bible responsibly and perceptively within a theological-historical framework.

Students who choose the Biblical Literature area choose one of three concentrations: English Bible, Old Testament or New Testament. Students with an English Bible concentration study the entire Bible; the Old Testament concentration emphasizes the content of the Old Testament with the acquisition of the Hebrew language, and the New Testament concentration emphasizes the content of the New Testament with the acquisition of the Greek language.

Course Offerings

"Prior to choosing Biblical Literature as my major with a concentration in English Bible, I had tried several others within the theology department, but I could not find one the fit me. After thinking about what I want to do with my life, I can honestly say that English Bible is the perfect fit for me. I will receive a solid biblical foundation from cover to cover. Not only is the Bible a text that we can learn from, but it also brings revelation knowledge about who God is as well as who we are. With this major, you not only receive head knowledge, but heart knowledge; truly the best of both worlds!
