Anna Vaughn College of Nursing (AVCON)
Preparing You to Promote, Maintain and Restore Health
Nursing is the largest health care occupation in America and registered nurses account for no fewer than 2.5 million jobs. Clearly, the prospects for your career in nursing are strong. And, when you graduate with a B.S.N. degree from the Anna Vaughn College of Nursing, you are much more than just a well-trained professional; you are a nurse who is committed to meeting the needs of the whole person — mind, body and spirit. We are graduating nurses who are leaders with a commitment to a Christian worldview. It is an orientation that is beneficial to the people you serve and highly appealing to employers.
Our program has a strong missions focus and you will have the opportunity to undertake a portion of your clinicals in medical clinics located in remote regions of Mexico or Nigeria.
Professors all practice in the community in some capacity. Classroom lessons include lots of hands-on learning through simulation labs and interactive assignments requiring teamwork and creativity.
The ORU nursing program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the Oklahoma Board of Nursing. When you graduate, you will be ready to write the National Council of State Boards Examination for licensure as a registered nurse.
The College of Nursing offers you the opportunity to join the ORU Student Nurses Association that is affiliated with the National Student Association and also Sigma Theta Tau International, the honor society of nursing.
