Instructor & International Development Coordinator, College of Business
Growing up on a farm in northwest Iowa, Kevin Schneider didn't think much about missions and the needs of people around the world. Right after high school, he found the Lord and nothing has been the same. He took his freshman year of college at Buena Vista College in Iowa, but felt the Lord working on him, calling him to do more in ministry. While chatting with an Omaha pastor's wife, he first heard about ORU and decided to visit over a College Weekend. He was hooked, and transferred his sophomore year to ORU where he finished his B.A. in Theology.
After taking his leveling courses, he enrolled in the M.B.A. program and completed it in 2005. This was an especially busy period in the life of a man who is seemingly always on the go. While he was working on his M.B.A., he also held down a job at a financial company in Tulsa and still managed to spend two entire summers volunteering in Afghanistan with various development organizations. The year he graduated, he facilitated a third trip for others to help build up the business and government infrastructure in Kabul.
Next, Kevin moved to California to work for Ameriprise for a year. He came back to Tulsa because of Tammy, his then girlfriend, and took a job at UBS Financial. In May 2007, he was hired as a business instructor at ORU. That December he and Tammy, who is ORU's Director of Missions, married.
Kevin commented. "Tammy and I are either arranging missions trips for students, taking them to weekend retreats and seminars to prepare them for service or traveling with them on missions ourselves." Some of Kevin's fondest memories involve playing with kids in Kabul, Afghanistan.
"The Lord touched my heart about being with students and helping them integrate business training with missions. This is why I am at ORU."
