Graphic Design Major

Bachelor of Science Degree

Program Overview

The graphic design major offers two bachelor of science degree options: print and video. Students in both degrees share several common courses, providing a foundation in visual and interactive media required in the work place today. Working with a variety of media, the relationship between graphic design and advertising disciplines is explored. Students complete a practical application of acquired skills through the completion of a self-promotional advertising campaign.

Graphic Design Print Major

"I chose Graphic Design because it allows for both creativity and functionality. Here at ORU I am being trained in expanding my skills technically as well as growing my mind aesthetically. It is that balance in which I find delight."

The graphic design print major provides a well-rounded foundation in graphic arts. This major prepares students to go into the field of design in the print arena.

Graphic Design Video Major

The art student majoring in graphic design video will have a comprehensive major covering graphic design, marketing, mass media communication and computer graphics combined with digital technology electives. This major prepares students to go into the field of design in the video arena.

Each plan focuses a student's elective choices into courses more suited to the expected demands of professional employment.

Design Technology Requirement
