Christopher Martin

Assistant Professor, Communication, Arts and Media

Christopher MartinChristopher Martin's day begins early. At 6:30 am he's behind the wheel of a big yellow school bus, hauling middle school students for the Jenks Public School system. When he drops off the last little darling, the sun is barely up, but his day is well underway.

As a theatre professor in the Communication Arts School, Christopher teaches playwriting and theatre history courses. He's also an accomplished playwright, having penned a number of short works himself. His personal goal is to one day soon stage a reading of excerpts of these works in a coffee shop or other small venue.

Speaking of coffee, Christopher is something of a coffee connoisseur. One of his favorite pastimes is to ride his bike to a local coffee shop and sample the different varieties of coffee, all the while chatting over the steaming brew with friends and other patrons.

Originally hailing from Pennsylvania, Christopher still enjoys making the long road trip back east to visit family and friends. But his home is now Tulsa with its inviting coffee shops, campus and bike trails.

"There are a lot of things to love about ORU," Christopher commented, "but more than anything I appreciate the willingness of faculty to try new things and produce plays and other works that are wholesome, but unfamiliar. ORU is a good place to be."
