Advertising Major

Bachelor of Science Degree

ORU advertising and public relations students created this public service video to introduce employee group managers to the benefits of corporate volunteerism and Volunteer Tulsa.

The business of advertising needs responsive, strategic, and creative change-leaders ready to impact our world for the better. As an ORU Advertising major, you’ll find a higher road, where good displaces greed, and business ethics find their foothold. Plus, you’ll learn the tools--campaign planning, graphic and digital design, and media management—to translate faith into action.

As an ORU Advertising major, you will:

  • Concept and design content and media via emerging (web, mobile, streaming) technologies, traditional (television, radio, print, out-of-home) and trade (retailer and wholesaler) channels
  • Learn to write technically and creatively across content platforms such as websites, social media, business collateral and research reports
  • Customize your experience with professional internships, special projects, discipline-based missions trips and on-campus jobs
  • Learn theories in design, consumer behavior, economics, media planning and communication
  • Gain in-demand, marketable skills which translate into careers
