Charles McKinney grew up in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and has worked in higher education over many years at state universities in Missouri, California and Florida. His areas of interests are enrollment management, educational administration and conflict management. After serving at the University of California at Santa Barbara for about twenty years in student services he moved to Florida where he worked at Florida Gulf University as an assistant to the president until June 2009. Charles has a B.S. degree from the University of Arkansas (AM & N) in business administration, M.ED, School Administration, Lincoln University of Missouri, MBA, Policy and Administration, University of Washington, a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Certificate in Educational Management from the Institute of Educational Management at Harvard University.

In June 2010 CW McKinney and Associates Consulting firm was formed in the State of Florida. The firm is dedicated to assisting clients build productive and successful solutions in the area of student services, conflict resolution, equity and compliance and educational management.

Charles serves on a number of boards of directors including his local church, and other religious and nonprofit organizations. He is past national president of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers. Charles has presented professional papers on a range of topics relating to effective communication in the work place, valuing and celebrating diversity and dimensions of professional development in higher education.

Charles is married to Lil McKinney and they have two children, Charles Jr., a history professor at Rhodes College and Teresa is director of educational services at The Juilliard School in New York City.
