Dr. Glenda Payas grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She earned bachelor of science degrees in Biology and Education from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas. She holds master's degrees from New Mexico Highlands University (Las Vegas, New Mexico) in natural sciences-chemistry, physics, and biology, guidance and counseling, and administration. In 1986, she received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Michael Cardone, Sr., School of Dentistry at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Dr. Payas operates a private practice, Payas Dental Restoration, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Trained as an expert with several different laser techniques, she has treated hundreds of patients and provided them with exceptional care and clinical treatment of the highest quality. Her expertise extends from the simple restoration to full-mouth cosmetic dentistry utilizing sedation dentistry.

During her varied career, Dr. Payas taught science classes in public high school and spent three years as a lieutenant in the United States Public Health Corp-Indian Health Service. She established a dental clinic in Benin City, Nigeria, to provide dental services; has made numerous trips to Jamaica to provide dental services at public health clinics; and participated in medical/dental outreaches in Abakaliki, Ebony State, Nigeria, Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Kumasi, Ghana, Ibadan, Nigeria, and Niamey, Niger -- all in Africa.

She was the dentist who introduced dental lasers to Oklahoma in 1991 and now serves as a member of the Executive Board of the Academy of Laser Dentistry. Her position as a Clinical Instructor for the Kois Center places her practice in the top level of dentists in the nation.

Her memberships include: the American Dental Association, Oklahoma State Dental Association, Tulsa County Dental Society, American Academy of Laser Dentistry, American Academy of General Dentistry, World Dental Congress, and the Pierre Fuchard Honorary Academy. She has also served on the ORU Alumni Association's Board of Directors, including a term as its chairman and on the ORU Board of Regents. She received an honorary doctor of laws degree from ORU in 2006, was named ORU's Alumnus of the Year in 2001 for "Distinguished Service to the Alma Mater," and was selected by her peers to be included in "Best Dentists in America" in 2005, among her main honors.

But beyond the credentials and accolades, Dr. Payas has a great love for people. She believes in planting into one another's lives and she receives great pleasure from restoring hope and purpose to those within her reach. Her practice is a ministry that just happens to do dentistry. Glenda and her husband, Brad, live in Tulsa.
