Meet the Board of Trustees

(1982) Treasurer

Tim Lyons, CPA, is President and CEO of TTCU The Credit Union. He began his professional career in public accounting after graduating from Oral Roberts University with a degree in Accounting in 1982. He later joined TTCU in 1989 and served as Vice President and Controller until 1996 when he was promoted to Chief Financial Officer. Only the seventh president in TTCU’s more than 80-year history, Tim was named Chief Executive Officer in 2011.

During his time at TTCU, he has managed the credit union’s financial affairs and strategic planning activities. He also has been involved in developing new products for the membership, expanding TTCU’s branch network and actively participating in legislative affairs. Tim spearheaded TTCU’s efforts to make financial literacy education curriculum available, at no charge, to all Oklahoma Schools through the FoolProof online financial literacy initiative. To date, more than 65,000 Oklahoma high school students have participated in this program.

Over the past two decades Tim, along with his fellow managers, shepherded TTCU through significant growth in assets and membership. Today, TTCU is a $1.7 billion full-service financial institution and serves more than 120,000 members online and through 16 branches in Tulsa and across northeastern Oklahoma. As the largest state chartered credit union in Oklahoma, TTCU counts in its membership teachers, school employees, students and their family members, as well as employees from more than 700 companies.

Tim has served on a number of committees and boards for various industry organizations including Oklahoma Corporate Credit Union, Oklahoma Credit Union Foundation, Credit Union Service Centers of Oklahoma, Cornerstone Credit Union League and the Federal Reserve Tenth District Payments Advisory Group. He also worked on key legislation that opened credit union membership to millions more Americans.

Tim’s community involvement work is extensive, as well. He is the chairman for the Temple Foundation, which seeks to meet the health, welfare, and education needs of children in the Tulsa metropolitan area. As a member of Rotary Club of Tulsa, Tim serves on the Above & Beyond Committee, which recognizes outstanding Tulsa area first responders. He also serves on the Tulsa Community College Foundation board and has served on the board of deacons for his church, Christian Chapel.

Tim and his wife, Carol, have two daughters and four grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys bicycling, spending time on his boat and teaching his grandkids how to fish.
