Meet the Board of Trustees


Matt Rearden currently holds the position of Corporate V.P. Business Affairs for SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, Inc. in Orlando, FL. His primary responsibilities include acting as chief of staff for the President & CEO, in addition to contributing to company strategic planning, special projects, investor relations and interface with the Board of Directors. Prior to his current role, Matt held the position of Associate General Counsel and was responsible for the company's worldwide intellectual property portfolio for brands such as SeaWorld, Busch Gardens and Sesame Place, as well as marketing, sponsorship and other corporate transactional contracts.

Prior to his service as a Trustee, he served as a member and eventually chair of the ORU Alumni Association Board of Directors. As chair, he was selected to be a part of the ORU Presidential Search Committee, which assisted with the selection of Dr. Billy Wilson as ORU's fourth president. He and his wife, Amanda, are members of the leadership team for a church plant in Orlando, FL and prior to their move to Orlando were lifelong, active members of Calvary Christian Center in Ormond Beach, FL. As a student at ORU, Matt was an Academic Peer Advisor and was also highly involved with the Student Association, serving as a wing representative, senator, executive vice president, and, in his senior year, as president.

Before joining SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, Matt worked as in-house with International Speedway Corporation and NASCAR, in Daytona Beach, FL, with a focus on marketing and sponsorship contracts, corporate transactions, facility operations, and development. Prior to law school, Matt was a claims adjustor with State Farm Insurance Companies.

He received his undergraduate degree in Finance from Oral Roberts University (1997) and earned a J.D. from Florida State University (2001). He is a former member of the FSU College of Law Alumni Board and stays active in many community organizations. He and his wife, Amanda, along with their 3 children (Mackenzie, Ava, and Austin), reside in Windermere, FL.
